Mission Impossible

Gorm Spaabæk deltog i 2011 en frottage udstilling på Kunsthal Nord i Aalborg. Udstillingen ledes af den tyske kunstner Karla Sache, som har opfordret sine nordjyske kollegaer til at gnide og siden vise resultatet sammen med hende i kunsthallen.

Gorm Spaabæk tells about the background for this project:

When my son was born, I photographed the birth process and took a total of 36 photos which were assembled on a contact sheet. The series went from a picture of Frederik in his mother's stomach and until he was out and said a lot of annoyed talking to me.
In the following summer, I copied the contact sheet and sent it to more than a hundred artists around the world. The project was called "Birth," and these artists were invited to manipulate my work, to forward it on and return the documentation to me.
In late summer months of 1994 letters came to my mail box from all over the world with greetings, and works, where artists had reinterpreted the fact that Karen and I had a child.
From Hawaii came greetings from a similar artist family who just had a daughter earlier that summer. From Hjallerup came a decoration that could hang over the cradle so the baby had something to watch and observe.
Altogether there was feedback from about 50 artists ... and in spring 2008, the project was documented and copied onto a CD-ROM that was sent to the addresses of all the artists who had responded to the project in 1994.

The Travellers Secret Box

Kunstarbejdsprojektet The Travellers Secret Box blev påbegyndt I 2004. The Travellers Secret Box er en metal boks der måler (højde, længde, bredde): 31 × 37,5 × 12,5 cm. Boksen anvendes til kunstarbejde i globalt regi. Fra 2004 til udgangen af 2007 har arbejdet været centreret omkring det koncept, at et antal bokse er blevet sat I omløb både i Danmark og internationalt. Projektet har været koordineret af dets indehaver Lars Vilhelmsen i samarbejde med koordinatorerne Karen D`Amico og Tulle Ruth.
